Frontispiece portrait of René Crevel (1900–1935) by M. A. Ortiz. In this novel Crevel anticipates his own suicide. The binding seems to be a scholar’s work in the atelier of the famous French bookbinder Jean de Gonet. – Browned throughout due to paper quality. Half title with restored marginal tears and re-bound.
