Richly illustrated social-satirical novel by Pierce Egan (1772–1849), his main work indeed, immortalised in Thackeray’s „Roundabout Papers“ and giving a lively account of contemporary „fast“ life in London. Egan made his career as a sporting writer and is an indispensable source of fashionable urban life in London in the early 19th century. – Title page somewhat browned, text and plates otherwise clean.
