First illustrated edition. One of 750 numbered copies on vélin blanc Lafuma-Navarre of a total edition of 765. A German version translated by Franz Blei was published in the same year containing different illustrations by Bonnard. Gide’s text was first published in 1899. – Carteret IV, 183 (“Édition recherchée et cotée”). – Offsetting shadow from an inlaid sheet to front cover verso. Slightly browned, the covers somewhat moer.
