This „roman libertin“ by French writer André-Robert Andréa de Nerciat (1739–1800) was initially published in 1775. The litterary genre „roman libertin“ blends eroticism, philosophy and anticlericalism. The main representatives were Denis Diderot, Marquis de Sade, Restif de la Bretonne and Andréa de Nerciat. – Cf.
