Authoritative edition of Guicciardini’s (1483–1540) important history of Italy, edited and commented by Tommaso Porchacchi (1530–1576). Guiccardini was a descendant of a noble Florence family and a close friend of Macchiavelli. The main focus of his „Historia d’Italia“ are the years between 1492 and the 1530ies.
