Poésie pour pouvoir. Texte et frontispice d’Henri Michaux.

. Michaux, Henri. Poésie pour pouvoir. Texte et frontispice d’Henri Michaux.

With colour frontispiece after Henri Michaux. Text and illus. printed throughout in orig.-linocut by Michel Tapié. 14 unn. leaves. Folio. Loose quires as issued in illus. wrappers, private cloth box with spine title.(Paris), René Drouin, (1949).

Edition originale. One of 31 copies with roman numbers on vélin d’Arches after 1 copy on torchon paper, out of a total limited edition of 46 only. Signed in the impressum by Henri Michaux and Michel Tapié. The text is divided in part „A“ and part „B“, both accompanied by the repeated marginal line „A travers mers et désert“. Alliterations and repetitions are characteristic for Michaux’ quite liturgical or exorcist lyrics. Michel Tapié’s artistic interpretation of Michaux’ text is an important example of his symbolic and iconic style, similar to Dubuffet’s art brut. The publisher and art dealer René Drouin was one of the first to show the work of Henri Michaux in his gallery in 1946. Only a very small number of the 46 copies were sold together with the orig. wooden box because of difficulties in producing them. – Some traces of use to the edges of the illus. wrappers. Minor traces of foxing or browning to margins. A good to very good copy in all. – Best.-Nr. 18476
