First edition. One of 200 numbered trade copies on Van Gelder paper. Jan Toorop is one of the important exponents of Dutch Art Nouveau, of what the present work is a superb example. While the cover is held in decorative ornamental lines, the two illustrations are proofs of the artist’s figurative symbolist drawings. – Houghton Library 93. – First and last leaves browned due to the paper quality of the covers.
